It was County Tyrone's fourth attempt in the Sydney Cup, and after running two second places in the previous two attempts the veteran seven-year-old finally cracked it in the final Group I of the 2006 autumn racing season defeating Zabeat in second with Three Chimneys in Third place.
This gave Jim Cassidy his 80th Group I winner in Australia .
He too was emotional about winning the race for Kris Lees as he also rode alot for Kris's late father Max Less.
“His Dad was a great mate of mine and it was the first thing I thought about when I crossed the line,” said Cassidy.
“He would be so proud of Kris".
“I am absolutely delighted to win this race,” Cassidy said.
