Hotel Grand jumped straight to the front from barrier 10, set a solid tempo throughout and simply out-stayed his rivals, winning by three-quarters of a length from Flying Pegasus, with a short half-head to Primus.
The first three placegetters held those positions throughout the race, with Hotel Grand always holding a decisive lead.
Coming to the home turn, Hotel Grand's jockey Jay Ford had a lapful of horse just waiting to be unleashed, while the chasers were all off the bit. Jay Ford simply asked Hotel Grand for his effort and he did just that!
Hotel Grand provided an amazing burst of sheer power, determination & will to win for Jay Ford as the dynamic duo went on to victory in the inaugural running of the Group 1 Randwick Guineas.
