Saturday 9th October 2010, saw three of the finest equine athletes come out to play and make their mark at Caulfield racecourse, with each of them running as firm favourites in their nominated races Caulfield was set to explode.
The hype that was made in the media leading up to the day was enormous, the crowd attendance was enormous and the atmosphere was electric with everyone that was in attendance waiting to see what was about to unfold. There was defintaley no upsets at all, everything that was planned went 100% to plan and exactly how the media had marketed this special day.
First of all Black Caviar ($1.90 Fav) was up contesting in the Schillaci Stakes over 1000m, she definatley did not disapoint! she toyed with her rivals and absolutley walked in...The crowd were gobsmacked at the ease she put her rivals away.
Next up was the boom colt So You Think in the Yalumba Stakes, as he pranced into the mounting yard there was almost silence as everyone was just focused on one horse and he was it. looking a million dollars as always, cool calm and collected and ready for the show time, showtime it was. Steven Arnold, who was unbeaten on So You Think ($1.40 fav), had the horse travelling sweetly behind race leader Red Ruler and took off inside the 600m. He was never threatened with last year's Yalumba winner Whobegotyou struggling to make any impression. At the post So You Think had a 3-1/4-length gap on Alcopop with Whobegotyou 1-1/2 lengths away third.
To complete the trifecta for the day, Gai Waterhouse's glamour mare More Joyous ($2.20 fav) was going for 9 straight wins and that she did! with a stunning win along with beating a quality field in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m). Carrying a hefty 58kg to victory with Nash Rawiller in the mount. The four-year-old daughter of More Than Ready jumped away evenly with the field from barrier 10, Spacecraft speeding away on the outside to take the lead. Held up in traffic, More Joyous looked in trouble mid-race having her first Victoria start following her eight consecutive wins in Sydney. On the home turn Poor Judge and Spacecraft battled for the front, before More Joyous wound up, knuckled down and pushed through to snare the lead inside the 100m and claim a gritty, well-deserved victory.
And there we have the story regarding this great tribute dedicated to "Three of a Kind"
