The Chris Waller-trained Rangirangdoo broke through into Group 1 territory for the first time on Saturday when he secured a tight but thrilling win in the $1.5 million Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at the Royal Randwick racecourse.
Five-year-old Rangirangdoo had previously placed second in three Group 1 features, including his last start runner-up to Theseo in the Ranvet Stakes.
But on Saturday Rangriangdoo ($6) answered all those who doubted he had a Group 1 win in him, when he fought hard to the line, beating home Anthony Cumming's Road To Rock ($26) by just a half-neck with Brilliant Light ($15) a gallant third one and a half lengths away
