MELBOURNE Cup winner Shocking completed a day for the heroes at Flemington when he returned to form with a dominant Australian Cup win and ended a hoodoo on the race for trainer Mark Kavanagh.
Shocking joined an imposing list of greats to achieve Flemington's famous distance race double.Makybe Diva (2005), Saintly (1996), Let's Elope (1992), Hyperno (1981) and now Shocking are the only horses to achieve the feat.
A hectic pace from Mourayan set the race up for Shocking ($8.50), who swooped home to win the Australian Cup (2000m) by two lengths.
Mourayan's stablemate Linton ($9) was second with the sole three year-old, Playing God ($8.50), a length away third.
Shocking's win ended a three year jinx on the race for Kavanagh.
