Takeover Target, who drew barrier 17 on the undulating 1000m straight course, was quickly taken to the front of the field on the grandstand side and clung on tenaciously over the final 200m with a brilliant front running ride and excellent judgment of pace by champion jockey Jay Ford to hold off Irish galloper Benbaun by a short head
Takeover Target joined a select group of Australian gallopers to triumph overseas when he won the Group Two King's Stand Stakes at the Royal meeting.
