It is a true fairytale story come true when former Canberra taxi driver Joe Janiak turned hobby horse trainer purchased Takeover Target for an amazing price of only $1375.00.

It was never in Joe's thoughts that he may have had just purchased the future "Australian Champion Sprinter" which would take him to the highest level of racing and accumulate a massive $2m in prize money in such a short amount of time.
In scoring narrowly in Australia's most famous sprint, Takeover Target became only the fourth horse in history to win the Salinger Stakes, Lightning Stakes and the Newmarket, alongside champions Maybe Mahal, Century and Special.
The victory also provided the gelding with the perfect platform for an ambitious world tour in coming months of 2006. He is set to take on the best in Europe and Asia in the remaining legs of the Global Sprint Challenge
Jockey Jay Ford said he will be packing his bags and following Takeover Target "to the end of the earth".
"Where ever Joe takes this horse, I'll be there," Ford said.
"It's just an honour and a pleasure to ride a horse as good as Takeover Target."
