On Monday 1 September the prestigious 2007-08 Australian Racehorse of the Year was presented by Sky Channel in The Palladium at Crown Casino in Melbourne .
Weekend Hussler was awarded the title of “Worlds Best 3YO Racehorse” during the season and was also the only racehorse to win 6 Group 1 races in the one season since the mighty Kingston Town .Weekend Hussler received an amazing 82% of the votes making him a deserving recipient of Australian Racing's pinnacle award.

Rivals for the National Honours were Apache Cat, El Segundo, Sirmione and Tuesday Joy who were also exceptional racehorses throughout the 2007/2008 season.
The awards and accolades increased for this remarkable son of Hussonet, as Weekend Hussler also won the Champion 3YO Colt & Gelding award for the 2007/2008 Racing Season Ross McDonald was voted Group 1 Trainer of the year, capping off a stellar awards night in Melbourne.
