OVERALL SUMMARY OF CAREER

‘Kouta' made his AFL debut during 1992 season and he quickly became the new modern day footballer, a brilliant athlete who could play game in any position, an at times unstoppable force would become one of the games champions over the next 15 seasons.

In one of the most successful Carlton era's, Koutoufides became a superstar in his own right, a new breed of player who possessed the size and marking strength of a key position player but the speed and agility of a premier midfielder. 1994 would be his break out season playing in the finals for the first time, 1995 became a part of history with Carlton losing just 2 games for the season with Koutoufides one of their star performers.

Whether it was in winning the ball with strength and power in the midfield or marking in the forward line and kicking goals, he starred in the clubs 16 th premiership win, one of it's best players in the Grand Final victory over Geelong, a season that earnt him All Australian Honours.

It would be the first of a long list of honours, from winning the Carlton Best & Fairest award in 2001 and 2005 while finishing runner up on two further occasions, to showing his versatility by leading the club goal kicking in 1997, there were Night Series flags in 1997, 2005 and most recently in his final year, 2007.

But probably his biggest honour was captaining the club between 2004 and 2006, a leader whether it was by official title or not, who could forget such memorable performances as his 18 marks and 35 possessions against West Coast in 1996 at Princes Park or the day he almost single handily helped the Blues achieve one of the greatest upsets in Finals history defeating Essendon in the 1999 Preliminary final, the sight of Koutoufides floating across packs in a desperate last quarter to help the Blues reach another Grand Final will never be forgotten.

While one thing will be missed more than any other, each time the Blues champion touched a football, the sound of the crowd roaring . . . . ‘Kouta'.

This stunning lithograph features a swatch of the game-worn jersey from Kouta's last ever game incorporated into the design.
