In a sterling career spanning 16 years Matthew Lloyd captivated football audiences far and wide. He retired at the end of the 2009 AFL finals series having played 270 games and kicked 926 goals (7th on the AFL/VFL all time goals kicked list at the time of his retirement). Making his debut in 1995, LLoyd went on to achieve a premiership medal in 2000, was a three time Coleman Medallist, five time All-Australian selection, two-time Australian International Rules representative and was captain of the Essendon Football Club from 2006-2009.
