F rom October 10 to November 22, 2003, the world's greatest rugby players came together in union on Australian soil. Over 44 days, across 6 states and in 10 venues, elite athletes from the top 20 nations competed for rugby's Holy Grail – The William Webb Ellis Cup. Stirring national anthems, team pride on the line, games played with intense passion, crowds enthralled... The Cup came to a climax in the thrilling final, where a Jonny Wilkinson drop goal in extra time gave England a ‘heartstopping' 20 points to 17 victory over Australia.

Hand-crafted from solid Australian Hyne Aracuria, each timber football is hand-turned by Ross O'Brien, who comes from a family of traditional Australian timber craftsmen. An absolute perfectionist at his craft, Ross spent more than six months developing the unique design. After the hand crafting process, each ball undergoes a process of staining and continual re-polishing, until it glows with a deep burnished lustre.
